Its been a very hot day again and will continue for a while. lots of sun bathing and a busy site. The grass is growing long but cannot get to it just now with all the caravans so it will have to be a meadow for a while.
The stork has been seen and the flowers are blooming and some are drooping with the heat. i need to get a hose to make life easier.
There is lots of fun around the fire and the smell of the cooking makes me feel real hungry. Some are real good cooks.
I think we are due for a mantra morning soon so if you want to join in just let us know.
I got some amazing pics of the river today from the centre. (No I cant walk on water)
It is amazing the water was low enough to get the pics and i love them. Think maybe they are the best ones I have taken yet. I hope i can get them on the site web pacl.
Its been a hot day again with little shower patches in between. I was watching the raindrops on the water as they hit and fall then spread out having that knock on effect like our human interaction. but what fascinated me was the circles within circles white black white black i was trying to count them as it looked like even though some raindrops were smaller and some larger they all seem to appear to have the same amount of cirlces . What was frustrating is I couldn;t count quick enough before they faded out. If anyone has a video that can slow down the action i would love to have the answer to my question. how many circles do they produce and are they all the same amount.? That would be totally amazing if they all counted the same. Its only because I have not been busy today that I got the time to observe closer.
Look forward to someone coming up with the answer. I would be impressed.
Well we had some wind yesterday but it was not so bad I made sure most was tied down but we had a wee bit of stuff that needs sorting. We had a small shower of rain to water the plants and now we are back to the sun. It amazed me how the birds were still going at the seed I put out yesterday. The wee ones could hardly fly in the wind and it was pretty strong for any to be out in it but they were determined to eat and were amazing to watch as they got blown from one direction to another but still managed to keep their balance and land on a branch that was waving 10 times faster than the royal family in their carriage. Definitely a lesson for us all to learn. Without a certain amount of balance and determination no doubt they would have been blown against a wall or something. They all got fed and survived.
Faith and focused intent was all they needed. Today its easy for them. The wind has gone.
Ironing is done and weeding to be done. But first my breakfast.Everyone else is fed.
Hope those who stayed enjoyed themselves. I see every ones tents are still in one piece I did keep my eyes open in case of emergency but all is well.Even the dogs are chilling with a bone.
Safe journey on wards to those travelling today hope the midges keep away.
Forgot to mention. We do allow a communal fire pit. Usually people buy their own wood or rummage for fallen tree branches, Sometimes we supply wood. On many occasions people have thrown the wooden chairs on the fire for fire wood. We have let this go by. But come on guys really? a nailed down handrail. Is that necessary? I know it was in the process of being sanded down and painted but it wasnt that bad surely. If you wish us to keep the option of the use of a communal fire pit then please do not take wood that is obviously being used. It would be amusing if it wasnt such hard work and we had someone coming today and needing the use of that handrail and didnt have the wood to replace it. Id appreciate it if we could keep our doors too. They are wood.
What a great day again. The sun was shining and its going to be a great few days at camp. It was real busy today finishing of the glamping pod area. Still got some stuff to do over there but we have our first glampers this year christening the Bell tent. with a bottle of wine. It has been so busy that I am still hyper . Just done my second coat of paint in the bathroom of the chalet I am staying in. Cant see a thing now as its dark. My car needs a wash but its too dark to do it now though I could do it if I had light. Still looking around for things to do. Thats the trouble when it gets busy and im working all day I cant seem to slow down and sleep. Not even a lump of cheese works . Thats my usual thing to help me sleep. So hey here I am on the computer updating the blog to bore you to tears. Not got the mower done yet hope it will be done tomorrow.
Just removed a spider that was heading onto my head.. Didn't think I was still enough for it to land. Good job it was a wee one or I would be jumping up and down . Actually thats not a bad idea maybe that will help me sleep. I guess all that salad has detoxed me too so even more energy flowing through me. Ok if this was daytime there would be lots I can do. It seems a waste of a night. I cant even bake a cake for my daughter coming home as I have not got the flour . I would drive to tesco but my petrol almost gone and may not get me to an open garage this time of night.. Ok this is a boring blog so Im gonna stop now and jump up and down for a while.
We hope you are enjoying your stay with us at Riverside Contin. We sure are having fab sunshine here. This morning is cooler but I am sure we are going to have scorching sun again. The damselflies don't seem to think so they seem to be hiding all except for the blue one I saw it yesterday. It was still a scorcher of a day then so who knows what today will bring. The dogs happier it is cooler and has taken up her usual position under the table for tit bits and coolness.
Mart is taking his time figuring how to put a gas grill together. It looks complex. Why don't they give the option of things already built plus option of flat packed. If it fits in a car there should be that option. Would save a lot of time.
The Robins are awaiting their breakfast and I have not yet had mine. The dogs the only one been fed..
We have someone coming to check out the mower today Thank God. That will make life easier I hope..
Safe journey on wards and have a fab time in Scotland.
Gosh another beautiful hot day. Sat there in the grass cutting it with the shears I really enjoyed myself. Managed to sand some hand rails down and water the flowers which were real thirsty. Also managed to sit by the river for 5 minutes and played my drum for a wee while. It brought in some red and blue dragonflies or it may have been damselflies. They all seem to be mating. Wee fish came in too. not sure if baby trout or salmon . Was real cool to see. It was a beautiful day. I really enjoyed it.
By the way the shop is not owned by the camp site. We are down the side of the shop following the drive down. There are notices. The shop owner cannot handle the stress . So please don't go and ask them what to do to camp. The sign by the blue chalet is big enough for all to see and the information board is on the reception down the drive by the yellow chalet which is as bright as the sun . A Sunny welcome will be awaiting you at Riverside Contin.
Another hot day again, wow. got the sit on mower out but it broke down again. Martyn told me to push it back in the shed (up hill) I huffed and I puffed and I pushed and I pulled cat flaps like dumbells straining with the effort . I think he thinks i'm a gorilla or something. I could not move that damn thing an inch. I felt like an orangutan and one that had fallen in the river at that. Well its sat there and I couldn't shift it so if you see me sat in the middle of a football size field looking like a daisy in a field full of daisies and buttercups with a pair of shears in my hand cutting the lawn don't think I am crazy. I may be a bit frustrated but I am doing the best I can with the old bad tools we have. Should be done by winter at this rate.
or maybe Autumn if i'm super fast.
Well i'm real hot now so lunch and time out, then see you all later among the daisies .
Well its a lot cooler today here at Riverside Contin Camp.Gave me a chance to do the strimming . I started the other day but it was much to hot. So didnt do too much. Went to get a new strimmer as our tools are rubbish asked for a light weight easy to use strimmer. What did they give me a heavy weight hard to pull strimmer , Im stood there pulling this thing in and out with no engine igniting . Story of my life with garden tools. With an end that is hard to get off. the wire coming out is like an inch so its not cutting much. Anyway its good for the arm muscles keeps the biceps, toned to keep away what some call "bat wings" not sure why they called that as bats have rather a slow flapping with their wings. Oh the other name I heard them called is "bingo Wings"!!?? what the hell are bingo wings? I dont even play bingo
I prefer the name cat flaps as they flap a little faster. Especially with a heavy vibrating strimmer. Boy my hands are still tingling from the vibration. Also noted I kept changing hands from left to right as the weight striming up hill is difficult and heavy. pulls on the lower back muscles. So think in future those that do petrol strimming will get a reduction for the back massage therapies as now I know how it feels. Anyway I am not moaning. As usual I am observing from my weird perception.
The stork has been seen again. Half the grass has been cut and buttercups and daisys left intact so you wont get your usual regimental lines. The mower is still chucking out the grass so at least it gets a good mulch if nothing else.
But hey its cool today the midges are nowhere to be seen which is great. Actually I have been lucky this year I have not been bitten once. They are not usually bad anyway but when you get a few they usually aim for me .
My dog is running around again like a mental demented wolf after having her stitches removed from her paw and being able to go out again. So thats a good sign not the mental bit but the recovery
Im looking forward to doing a wee bit of touring around myself end of this month. There are a few local cairns and waterfalls I wish to visit again so Martyn will be around when I am not.
Pleasant journeys. Enjoy your time in Scotland as it is amazing the sun we are having here.Indeed those traveling this year to Contin and around this area are lucky with the sun for sure.
After all the past few weeks of heat we are now experiencing the fog. My mum would say spooky but then I think maybe she has caught sight of a few too many Zombie movies where they come out of the ocean or the mist. Myself. I like its cool dampness. Some may say "I cant see a thing" maybe, maybe not. But you can be sure it always clears and things become sharp again. It certainly makes you a lot more aware and alert and sharp trying to see your path through it. Out of Zombie mode. Wake up time. Its not just the fog I am talking about.
So the roads to Riverside Contin have been foggy but the site is clear. It is warm here and I think it will be hotter later.
The Robins are still around and the blue tits are back , though not in the roof. There seem to be a few unusual birds around now . I don't know what they are.
The past few days after the Bank Holiday have been peaceful. I managed to get in a wee drum session by the River when no one was around and a few ducks came in to say hello.
This Sunday will see us doing another mantra session in the yurt from 11. to 1pm .For love, peace and healing. Sometimes people have major releases of past issues which no longer serve them. A freeing from pain and suffering and this can come out in all sorts of ways. If you arrive during the Sunday morning please do not be alarmed if you hear a shout , crying or howl just know someone has let go of their pain and suffering.
We are working on the surrounding ground to the Bell tent creating a path just now and strimming needs to be completed by the weekend. I just need to figure out how to replace the plastic cutting rope.
The cobb is to be knocked down and we are re-thinking what to do about that.
Wishing you all a lovely holiday.
Well here we are again another amazingly hot day at Riverside Contin. The sun is out the birds are a chirping and stuffing their beaks. The rabbits are still trying to get into the metal shed.
Mart was "trimming" the spruce trees. Never felt more part of nature than today. I was the one under him holding the ladder. He got a bit carried away. Girls when a man is up a ladder make sure you not under it. When a man plays with his tools you dont want to be anywhere near him. I had more of the tree over me than anywhere else. I got spruce in my hair down my neck and all over the place. I felt more and more like a fairy with every minute as the spruce tree rained down all over me. It dont matter where I stood down it rained. A very interesting moment for sure. I think I am still picking bits out of my hair. But I am certainly one with nature for sure. I think I need to go and spruce up a bit
Well we have had a couple of busy days. So I am a bit slack with the blog. Lots of people lots of work and loads of birds. New ones coming in all the time plus a few ducks I spotted swimming past. The birds are getting fat on the bird seed. Maybe I should slow down the feed a bit and let them feed on what is around now.
The sun has been constant here and I love it .
We seem to have had a lot of children this weekend which is unusual for our site as we do not have much here for children to do as we a small site, but they seem to be entertaining themselves and loving it so all is good.
Safe journeys onwards.
We have been really lucky here in Scotland. the Sun has been out on the campsite for over a week now .Very hot and Scotland is so beautiful as I am sure you will agree.. We hope you are enjoying your stay with us and will come back again soon.
Was a real scorcher of a day today every one was sitting in the sun.
Some of my clan arrived and we managed to create a beautiful garden around the yurt. It was a fun filled day of heavy labour , digging and planting. Thanks girls. It was wonderful sitting out there. I gave Buddha a bath and he is sat there smiling away now. He was a gift from a friend so he has his own place created for him .
Some more pictures will be on site sometime next week.
It has been very hot again on site. Got the lawnmower going today but it has really had it. It keeps chucking out grass so its time to save up for a new one. Hope to get one for next year. Was also disappointed a bit today as the blue tits seem to have vacated the roof. The sparrows are still there but not one blue tit anywhere. Didnt think different bird food would make too much difference. It appears it does. So my first trip tomorrow will be town for some tit food. or maybe it was just the drone of the mower and the smell of the petrol. I felt pretty sick after with that smell. We will see tomorrow if they are around. Just now it is only sparrows going in and out the loft.
Looking forward to creating the garden the weekend so it will be a full on weekend again.
The river is still a bit low due to all the sun we are having. I cant complain its great.
